Sixth Sunday of Easter
The concept of hospitality is fundamental to a stewardship way of life. When we envision hospitality, we naturally think of offering a sincere and warm welcome — to those new to our parish, for instance. We picture inviting them in and making them feel at home and at ease in our presence, communicating to them that they are highly valued.
Today’s Gospel reading from John invites us to think of hospitality in a slightly different way. In it, we hear Jesus speaking this to his disciples: “Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him.”
Jesus is asking that we permit the Blessed Trinity to come and dwell within us. This is a stunning request. It tells us that our first and most privileged form of hospitality should be directed towards God Himself.
How does one show hospitality to God? How do we make God “at home and at ease” within us? How can we communicate to God that He is “highly valued” by us? Jesus tells us how: we are to keep His word, to follow His teachings.
To keep His word, we must know His word. This takes discipline and effort on our part. We must make the study of Scripture and Church teaching a priority in our daily lives.
If we want our parish to be a place of genuine Christian hospitality, we must be sure that our own hearts are hospitable dwelling places for the Blessed Trinity. Then our smiles and words, our greetings and ministries will radiate with the warmth of God’s love. And our parish family will become at least a little bit like Heaven on earth. This is the simplicity and glory of a stewardship way of life.

El concepto de hospitalidad es fundamental para una vida vivida según la espiritualidad de la corresponsabilidad. Cuando pensamos en hospitalidad, naturalmente imaginamos ofrecer una bienvenida sincera y cálida —por ejemplo, a quienes son nuevos en nuestra parroquia. Pensamos en invitarlos, hacerlos sentir como en casa y cómodos en nuestra presencia, comunicándoles que son muy valiosos para nosotros.
La lectura del Evangelio de hoy, tomada del Evangelio de San Juan, nos invita a considerar la hospitalidad desde una perspectiva un poco diferente. En ella, escuchamos a Jesús decir a sus discípulos: «El que me ama guardará mi palabra, y mi Padre lo amará, y vendremos a él y haremos morada en él».
Jesús nos está pidiendo que permitamos que la Santísima Trinidad venga a habitar dentro de nosotros. Esta es una petición impactante. Nos dice que nuestra primera y más importante forma de hospitalidad debe estar dirigida a Dios mismo.
¿Cómo se muestra hospitalidad a Dios? ¿Cómo hacemos que Dios se sienta “en casa” dentro de nosotros? ¿Cómo le comunicamos que Él es “muy valioso” para nosotros? Jesús nos dice cómo: guardando su palabra, siguiendo sus enseñanzas.
Para guardar su palabra, debemos conocerla. Esto requiere disciplina y esfuerzo de nuestra parte. Debemos hacer del estudio de la Sagrada Escritura y de la enseñanza de la Iglesia una prioridad en nuestra vida diaria.
Si queremos que nuestra parroquia sea un lugar de auténtica hospitalidad cristiana, debemos asegurarnos de que nuestros propios corazones sean moradas acogedoras para la Santísima Trinidad. Entonces, nuestras sonrisas y palabras, nuestros saludos y ministerios irradiarán con el calor del amor de Dios. Y nuestra comunidad parroquial se convertirá, aunque sea un poco, en un pedacito del Cielo en la tierra. Esta es la sencillez y la gloria de una vida de corresponsabilidad.

Join us every Friday at 7:00 PM for Eucharistic Adoration in the church. Take a moment to step away from the busyness of the week and spend quiet time in the presence of the Lord. Whether you come for a few minutes or stay the whole hour, all are welcome to pray, reflect, and be renewed in Christ’s peace.
We are also in the chapel for quiet Adoration every Friday from 4:00–6:00 PM.

The first phase of OCIA is inquiry and the time to start inquiry is when you are interested or have questions. You can come to the inquiry phase without any commitment on your part. You can simply come to learn, first class begins June 12 at 7 pm.
